Having thoroughly enjoyed a long weekend away camping with friends in the Adirondacks, we felt thoroughly recharged and ready to tackle our next closet design challenges! While contemplating the magnificent starry sky and enjoying the cool breeze off the lake. We could not help but felt a slight annoyance of having to crawl into our tiny tents and perform a sea-lion imitation while struggling getting into our pajamas. Well, there must be a better alternative than having to dig through our duffel in the dark? Which bring us to this week’s closet designer obsession.
The expedition dream closet; The super deluxe camping custom closet experience!
So let’s imagine for a moment what would be the ultimate, camping wardrobe organization system. First of all the cramp 3 person hiking tent with the low ceiling will have to go. The barrel roll on the floor in order to get our jeans on routine do gets a bit old. What we need is more headroom and near vertical walls, the Pine Lodge tent from Eureka! providing 12′x10′ of standing room seems to fit the bill quite nicely. It is a bit old fashion looking, but it’ll match our choice of wardrobe hauler quite nicely.
“If I had the need, and the wherewithal, Mr. Banks, this would be my trunk of choice.”
As the wonderful salesman from Joe versus the Volcano has reminded us, nothing beats a wardrobe trunks when it comes the ultimate in traveling wardrobe organization! Although the steamer trunks aren’t really realistic choice when it comes to flying but, since we’re car camping (or assuming if you have teams of willing Sherpa). It’ll be the perfect solution for us. But if you must fly, you can always ship your luggage so that they are sitting pretty and waiting to serve you at your destination.
The “Start Your Morning Right!” Trunk
Well lets start first by providing for the essentials, breakfast essentials. Let’s say that you enjoy sharing a nice cup of Joe with your fellow tent mate and catch the morning market opening on CNN. The “breakfast in the Desert” trunk from Louis Vuitton will see that you are well care for:
This was a custom trunk commissioned by a Chinese client so as to allow him to enjoy his breakfast routine anywhere in the world, even were he to find himself waking up in the far corners of the Sahara. I am sure Louis Vuitton would be more than happy to make us an exact copy to help us enjoy our camping breakfast as well.

The “Liquid Diet Essential” trunk
On second thought, the whole portable DVD business seems a bit low tech and not to mention rather intrusive on our quiet morning time. We rather prefer the T.T. Malle Mini Bar Trunk, tastefully done plus the convenience of a build in fridge!

The “Treat Your Suit Right” Trunk
And finally, what about our wardrobe you wonder? Despite Louis Vuitton’s rich and long history of trunk making, we have decided to go with the product from a relative upstart, our favorite company named after a Peruvian sacrificial knife. Tumi, we applaud their willingness to release a new iteration on a concept that had been largely phase out due to lack of practical use. We love the idea just the same, the Townhouse Wardrobe Trunk. Despite the lack of pedigree, if we were Mr. Bank, this is the trunk we like to have:

The “Must Have For Shoe Addict ” Trunk
We’ll take four please. Last and not the least, I am sure you are wondering at this point, where shall we keep our shoes? Fear not, we have found the perfect solution for you. We bring you the vintage Louis Vuitton shoe trunk. A fine classic that we could not resist.

The “Let Them Eat Cake!” Trunk
And finally, for our Pièce de résistance we bring you the Movie Trunk from Pinel & Pinel’s, which consist of Bang & Olufsen Beolab 6000 subwoofer, two Beolab 3 speakers, BeoVision 6-26 television, and the DVD1 DVD/CD player. Why? We say Why not!
